THINKING OF A COUNTRYSIDE MOVE?

Whilst stuck staring at the same four walls during lockdown, many of us dreamed of upping sticks and relocating to the open spaces of the British countryside. More space, cleaner air, less crowds, ditch the traffic jams anyone?

But what are the realities if you're seriously toying with the idea of your own escape to the country?

The PROS...

šŸŒ± Get back to nature. Give your immune system and mental wellbeing a boost by making the most of better access to the great outdoors. The cleaner air and sensory delights of the countryside are a tonic for city-weary bods.

šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Slow down, stress less. There's no denying that life in the country runs at a slower pace and in leaving behind the rat race of our towns and cities, life can become a little less stressful.

šŸ” More affordable housing. Generally speaking, you can get more bang for your buck in rural areas which means more indoor and outdoor space. Plus there's some beautiful real estate to be had in our countryside villages.

The CONS

šŸ’° Properties aren't always cheaper in rural areas. The prices of homes in some parts of the British countryside will make your eyes water!

šŸš— Be prepared to jump in your car more. Popping to the shop for a pint of milk on foot may be a thing of the past if you choose to relocate to a more remote rural area. Plus public transport can be hit and miss!

šŸ’» If you're a remote worker then great (as long as those pesky broadband speeds are up to the task). But if not, the countryside offers fewer job opportunities than our towns and cities - and often lower salaries to reflect a supposed lower cost of living.

So what do YOU think? Is a move to the country something you're considering? Or are the conveniences of city life just too convenient to ignore?!
